Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
I converted over to fiberglass paipo boards from bodyboards about a year ago. (Although I had a couple fiberglass paipo boards in the 70s.) I took me about 8 months to really master the paipo. My board is bigger than yours and has twin fins. I am about 6 feet 205 lbs. My board is 51 inches by 22 inc...

Re: Central coast Paipo rider (and so-cal)
Hi, I surf in Santa Cruz about every other week in the winter. I live just North of San Francisco and surf a lot of breaks up here also. Let me know when you are around.

Re: Deus Ex Machina Bellyboard
Nice looking boards. But I agree with Larry's comment about the fins. They are a little too small-- not deep enough. The rider will probably skid out on critical sections unless he or she digging the rail in deep or holding with swim fins. This is typical of shaper how doesn't ride this type of board.

Re: swim fins
I can't wear regular fins. But if I could would use the Churchill Makapu Hubbs model. They are stiffer throughout with padding.

Re: Zeagle Travel Fins
Hi, I had Bob make cut outs on my Pro Force fins and I use comfort pads with cutouts. I can surf for 3 hours. But they still bother somewhat. I thought the Zeagles might be even more comfortable, but they had no power. When these Pro Forces wear out I am thinking about getting the Tan Delta fins. Th...

Rod, What campsite number will you be at? I am at one of the walkin sites I think. I won't know my number until I get there. I am going to get there Friday around 1 pm.

Re: Zeagle Travel Fins
I think 3mm booties will be fine especially if you are wearing good wetsuit. The last couple of winters I have surfed up here no booties because fins didn't well with them on. Now i have made some modifications and I can use 2mm booties. Unless there some current running it shouldn't be too cold.

Zeagle Travel Fins
I tried out these Zeagle travel fins yesterday. http://www.zeagle.com/showproduct/9/EZ-Travel-Finz/ I have high arches with bumps on the top and wide feet so I even have trouble my Force Fins Proforce fins. I thought these might be a good option. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. They felt ok ...

Today's water temp for that area was 54 degrees (out at the bouy 10+ miles offshore). It will probably be warmer in a couple of weeks. For me a 3/2 would work just fine. But I have is a 4/3, because the water up here is colder. I am very warm in 54 degrees. But yoy might used to warmer water.

Hi,
I am planning on attending. I guess I should reserve a camping spot. I am still trying to decide on my exact schedule.

Has anyone tried the rib guards yet? My ribs are really bothering me today after dropping in and riding some big rough waves at Ocean Beach in San Francisco yesterday.

Re: Fin recommendations
I lost one of my fins when I hit some kelp at high speed so I decided to try another fin out. Here are the new ones: http://www.futuresfins.com/fin-detail.php?id=188&largeimg=twinkeel_akila_full.jpg . Anyway they work great! These are the best of the three fins I have used with this board. The a...
