As I recall...North of the pier is an "open" zone during the Summer. So we won't be invading a stand-up zone, but we'll be sharing waves with them. Be sure to give the serious bodysurfers some breathing room. Some of them might be regulars that really enjoy their Summer "open" zone.

This was a really fun paipo and handboard gathering. About an even mix of men and women, and several children. Mike, you left too early. You missed out on the free food (pita sandwiches) and the free raffle. There were some glass and foam boards there. Mr. Surffoils would have liked this assymetric board...about as rad as they come:

Here's my latest cork-deck board. What I call a goddess template. Very manueverable. I like it. Perhaps not the best thing for a family gathering. Jeez, I didn't know there would be children there.

The asymmetric was a Donald Brink....a South African that is definately beyond the fringe.

Looks like it was fun event. Post more pics if you have 'em. Found a news story about it & a blog with some decent riding pics:

Some pictures on the Paipo Society website today. They appear to be left in the order that they were taken. It's hard to judge the size of the crowd based on photos of the beach, because there was always a crowd of folks in the water.

I'd like to know more about this cubit board. This was the only double-wide handboard I saw...besides mine. I looked at it later, and it had tailblocks on either side of the crescent. Anybody have a better photograph?
