I am sure there must be better spots than the ones shown in that video. Hardly worth it!

There are lots of good places to surf up there.

These guys do look they're having fun. I prefer surfing with a few friends in crappy conditions to surfing with a crowd of bozos with good conditions. (I do have a bizarre fondness for rocks, sketchy water entries and remote spots far from rescue.)

I hear ya on that one... but give me some warmer water if I am going to ride in some sketchy, so-so surf! Simply put there is better surf up there :)

Ted...."We are all bozos on this bus".
A quote from the Firesign Theatre for those old enough to remember them.

If you are passing through the Bay Area on the way up to Humbolt, let me know. I would love to see your TBelly board. I thinking about about having another one built. I could take you out to some spots around here.

Thats very cool jbw but we will be flying. I did not want to go up the pass in the icy snowy roads. My Bro-in-law also just sent me the forecast for south Oregon Nor Cal surf for double to tripple over head and choppy conditions all week. I will at least go give it a look.

But so cold, so cold. I got up to surf this morning and it was 30d. I couldn't face that long walk, I went back to bed. So ashamed.

I never know the Fahrenheit: Celsius conversion, but on this occasion checked. 30 = -1.1 Ouch that's cold. Hope you have a good wetsuit. That's freezin.

It's only 1.5 degrees colder than here where I am. I use a good 4/3 wetsuit. That should be fine.

What is the water temp and wind speed? Those are also huge factors when out in the water. But, yeah, 30F air is COLD. For warm water wussies like me.

Nonetheless... I do suffer the N. Oregon surf now and then :)

The air temperature is the big deal. The air is alot colder up there. It is only in the high forties-low fifties here.
We're having a big storm right now with big un-rideable surf. Hopefully the wind will calm down and I can out at a protected spot tomorrow.

Did NOT surf. Weather and bad road conditions to the beach plus high wave storm like conditions had me with long johns on, a good book, and some whiskey to pass the time, not to mention all the good food I could eat. Now I really gotta get back in the water just to loose the weight I gained

Don't feel bad... as I feel like the "flatness curse" as I shove off to Puerto Rico tomorrow. After the Island experiencing a very good Oct-Dec 2012 and first days of Jan 2013, the swell will die off during the day tomorrow and head into a period of relative flatness. Mucho café and reading... Some little surf along the northern coast before the winds pick up during the morning.

PR NW beaches take anything from a W to a N swell. The E and ENE are for the north coast line because they do not wrap around into the W facing beaches (duh!). Note: The wind forecasts from Buoyweather are so-so.

PRNW Forecast of 2013-0102p
Ay bendito... can the forecast get any worse??? #($*&$%@!!!
