Central Coast trip

#1

Unread post by Pes78 »

So I'm planning on taking a trip up north again first week of February. Will be staying up at plaskett creek for a couple days then hanging around SLO/Morro Bay area for a day. Also going to be staying at El Cap for a day or two. So if anyone wants to go for a surf or guide me into some stuff to do let me know.

We have been having a good run up here Paul. I bet SD has been cooking. I typically don't venture north of Pt. Conception....BIG waves....BIG fish....SPOOKY water. Let me know when you hit El Cap and we will see what is happening.

Yeah I'm not planning to go in the water up in the Big Sur area, just going to do a little hiking and taking some pictures and do some reading. Might do Hearst Castle and just relax. Right now I plan on being at El Cap Wednesday and Thursday that week. I'll be staying at Hobson's Sunday night so I'll text you and Spudnut for a possible glass off session.

There are a few chaps up in the Big Sur area that ride paipos: Bob Mellor, Skipper and Dr. Robert. Just don't try paddling out at the big elephant seal colony!

Alright here are the plans for the trip. Sunday night staying at Hobson's hopefully surf in the afternoon somewhere in Ventura. Then Monday drive up to Santa Cruz and check that area out, maybe go for a surf there with anyone in SC. Tuesday and Wednesday Plaskett Creek/Big Sur area. Thursday and Friday El Capitan area to surf with whoever wants to meet up. Depending on the swell leaving Saturday from El Cap at some point. Now I need to see if there are going to be waves.

I was up there at Christmas time and it was pretty windy with no rain. The plan is to camp at Hobson's Sunday night so hopefully the front moves pretty quick. If it doesn't rain to heavy I should be fine, my roof does leak when it rains heavy in one spot. Lucky for me it's not right over me. Hopefully surf somewhere Monday morning in the area and then head to Santa Cruz. But judging by the winds forecasted it'll be pretty trashed out there. Right now its not looking to good for El Cap with the current forecast but their saying another storm is developing just not sure how intense and how close it gets to our swell window. Kage looks like Tuesday morning for a surf your way, I have your number and I'll give you a call Monday night to see where you are thinking of where to go.

Well got back from my trip yesterday afternoon. I was sick for most of it and didn't even get in the water the whole time kinda bummed about that but what are ya gonna do?. Good to meet up with kage for a beer and next time I'm up your way think I'll stay a bit longer. It was foggy and sorta raining when I drove through big sur so didn't get to see to much in the drive to plaskett. Very beautiful part of the state and if you haven't been there I recommend you do. Went to Hearst castle and that was really cool to see and to think he never finished it is just crazy. If you haven't been go its well worth it and make sure what ever tour you do go on get one with Sean. I'll post up some pics when I get to the "office" I've got a lot to go through since I stopped at Rincon Thursday and took some pics there.

Well here we go with round 2. Headed up to Santa Cruz for a few days on October 8th so kage and jbw4600 want to meet up let's get a plan together. Kage I have your number and I'll be there until Tuesday. Then I'm headed inland to stay in Yosemite because I've never been. Staying there for a couple days and will head back to the coast somewhere in the SB/VTA area. If anyone has any tips for Yosemite let me know. SJB I'll be in contact once I'm in your neck of the woods.
