About 2 years earlier (Oct 2015) we met up at the Ocean Mesa El Capitan campground (just up the road from Santa Barbara, north or west depending upon your perspective), mostly arriving on Sunday and leaving on Tuesday, as most of us could arrange our schedules and avoid the weekend crowd. With plenty of advance planning we probably can get some campsites.

Ted is a strong maybe.
Rod, maybe you might edit the opening post to eliminate all of the conflicting location info.
Dr. Robert.....I have an El Cap res for Pes and myself....but due to evening social obligations probably only able to attend during the day and not camp. Do you....or anyoneelse want to take my camp spot? Been so long since I made the res I cant remember for sure but I think my share for the two nights is $45. Will have to double check.
SJB, thank you for the offer, but I'll probably be a day tripper depending on the surf...I'm up in Cambria and it's a fairly humane drive to and from...see you there.
I might go to Jalama on 10/7 just for the day. You have to reserve at least 2 days on weekends at Jalama campground. I might stay in Lompoc. I am planning to be down in the Santa Barbara area for 5-6 days or so.

What are water temps running between Ventura and Jalama? Thinking about how much rubber I need to bring. Is the water warmer than usual this year or expected to cool off a lot the next 3 to 4 weeks?

Cooled down a bit....Surfline calls both Ventura and Jalama 63 degrees today. I will be 3.2. I am thinking Jalama might be the call. I have not been up there in some years and would be fun. Jalama Grill is famous for their apres surf burgers. It is a different world above Pt. Conception.....always feels a bit wild and open ocean....and here in South County I always talk myself into the mindset that the big fish dont come south of the Point.
