From Sweden; well known as a hotbed of paipo surfing. ;)
Paipo surfer in repose,
Nose on the nose,
No grunting he-man pose.
See how fast he goes!
What is it he knows?

I watched the first episode with Tom Wegener.
The editing is great, but I m a bit disapointed by the rides, I know he is a good rider and is able to ride good waves so I don't get why they show him going straight forward in the foam.

Just watched the Wegener segment again and I did not see that. True, pretty crappy, tiny waves, but most by far he was trimming or turning. I'd love to see him ride one of those boards in some "real" surf i.e. 4-6 foot barrels with good shape.

I got inspired so went to Tom's site and emailed him a msg saying just that, that I very much enjoyed Love Letter To Prone and I it would be great to see him riding some quality surf. Maybe something will shake loose!

I think the wave quality can be interpreted in a few different ways.

On one level Tom is saying you can have fun riding nearly anything on a BB.

On another, I suspect there was a narrow filming window. The video with Warren Pfeiffer included quite a few waves of him riding in the whitewater. So it could also be something to do with the film maker.

Having said that, footage of paipo being ridden in good waves is pretty limited. Here's a collection of Hawaiian footage:

With some luck, I'm catching up with Tom over the next week, to refine a board I got from him.
