This is an interesting board for the period which is my guess a mid-1960s vintage. I came across it on eBay. The board is 42 x 21-1/2 inches. Rick Stoner early on partnered with Bing Copeland who was also known for supporting innovative surf designs.

Re: Rick Surfboards Paipo
Sounds like some questions might be in order. Someone must have surfed it in recent memory, or that leash has been there a long time.

Re: Rick Surfboards Paipo
nice looking board, but what a horrible place for a leash, i guess it was iriginallt leashless and when someone wanted to use one there only idea was to drill the fin!

Yes, drilling a hole was all so common in the early days. No simple leash plugs although some people made fiberglass loops on the board. It was easier to hold on to a paipo then a longboard or a short boart (7'6") back then so it open up some breaks that foot surfers would want to avoid. We also used our girl friend's nylons as fin socks and then as fin savers.
