Anyone ever use chalk paint? I just did on one of my boards and it looked great until I noticed cracking after day two of drying. Im now sanding and putting on a primer and then give it a quick spray paint and then marine varnish.

You mean "chalk board paint"?? I've painted several paipos with leftover paint not really intended for wood like appliance paint & car paint. They all worked as long as I put a good primer coat over the wood first to seal it. I've never used chalk board paint though.

I did a wood stain that look hideous so I painted with left over chalk paint my wife made using grey and blue interior paint mixed with some plaster of paris. it gives furniture a rustic look. I did the deck one night and the bottom the next. Im guessing the second day the paint may have changed somehow because the deck paint did not crack, only the bottom. I just primed over the paint and started over using some spray paint..then some marine varnish in a day or two. I have wood for two more boards so.....another step in learning how to make these things.
