Help Identify this paipo
Aloha All
Scored this off CL and hoping someone can help identify who possibly made this paipo.
It looks to have been reglassed or some one took a rattle can to it. For sure it was originally foam and glass. And for sure someone sprayed it. Leash that came with it is old.
Here are the pics:

A very interesting board. I can't recall anything specifically like this.
Do you still have the seller's contact details? I would ask how long they had the board and where it was purchased. Some context could go a long way.
Has it been reglassed or repainted?
If Hawaiian, it would be possible to ask around.

Bought it. And seller removed ad info.
All he knows was from a friend in Waimanalo. 70s or 80s

Ok, I'll ask around. 70s sounds more likely than 80s unless it was owned by a dedicated paipo surfer.

Larry might know but I lost his number. Will take it down to a shop Larry frequents and maybe leave it there for him to check out.

I e-mailed Larry and Craig Matthew. Stan Osserman might be a bet if the board was surfed at Makapu'u.

Airboy,
I contacted Larry, Stan, Craig as well as John Galera. It looked vaguely familiar to some but no-one knew whose board it was. I asked Larry if Harry Akisada would know. If Larry asks Harry I'll let you know.
Regards
Bob

Re: Help Identify this paipo
Heard Larry checked it out and wants to go out and do a sesh. So can swap boards. Need to tighten her up and she has a glass crack on bottom and another shoddy repair that needs attention.

Re: Help Identify this paipo
Took to shaper friend and he suspects it is marine epoxy. Also board is very light in terms of weight.
Have not hooked up to chat with Larry. Tried early today at the shop and brought down my Romanosky single fin epoxy spoon for shop ower to check out. Hopefully soon we can sync up.

Harry has suggested one possibility to Larry. Nothing definite so far.

Airboy,
Check your pm's. I've sent a message with my e-mail address about a different matter.

Re: Help Identify this paipo
So have taken this out a few times in town and ewa with chest high conditions. Paipo jas some float due to the foam and paddles not bad. Planes up real easy. The big difference is going down the line it kinda gives the flappy bird feeling going up down on the face while pointing down the line. Think side-scrolling video game. It does not like to bottom turn with a big carve and does not pivot at all from the tail. Finlets on the rail makes your fingers sore after a while as it is in right in the grip spot. Speed wise it seems a little slow compared to the wood paipo and alaia I have. Fun find and really gives a different sensation.
