They are very light and floaty...lots of fun. Not that different from a boogieboard really just the wooden version. I made one for each of my kids and my Wife...so different sizes with the biggest one on the left for me. Definitely a long way from the board in the back of the pic. Thanks for commenting...wasn't sure I was posting these so that anyone else could see them!

I get the poplar from a local wood company and mill...get the rough boards. The paulonia comes from a place in GA. 199.00 for 3 boards... 8ft long 6 inches wide x1 1/8 thick. Ready to work with...planed and smooth. That's the best price for paulonia I have found. Basswood and balsa from an the cheapest online company I can find at the time I need it.

I see your leash plug is located centre of your board. Does it get in the way often or are riding/paddling off the back? I'm presuming you are using a bicep style leash.

Just something new to try out. Shaped board to ride both directions so wanted to test out a center position instead of 1 plug at each end. Using a 4-5 inch cord to create a little more slack in the leash (wrist or bicep) and so far no complaints. We will see with more people riding them...

I like the little boards you made for you and your familly, their look is nice, short and rounded. I guess all these hard wood boards are quite heavy, aren't you afraid to be hit by them during the rides ?

They are mostly made of paulonia wood and really aren't that heavy. Most of the time I don't lose control of them and have only been dinged a couple of times.
