I have a problem

Here's my latest one 4'2" 21.5" 2" in center 2.5" out to the rails. Belly to flat to double concave to vee and it's going to be a single fin. I used a 5'10RP stringerless blue density from us blanks. Hard edge except for up in the nose, nose is 17" tail is 19" and will be starting with a 7" 4A. Not sure on the glassing just yet but I'll be glassing this on my own.

Anyway I've solved one problem, turned your pic round

So we are looking at the tail in this pic? How does this differ from your last board (can you put a ink to the last board tread so I can compare)

The big chamfer give an optical illusion of the board beig 5" thick, but as you said only 2"

So do you find you happily lay in the centre, I have my contact along the used edge (but finless I guess I have too)

The tail isn't much different than the last one unless your referring to the other 4'2. This one has a more traditional foil to it. As far as the concave deck goes I have gone deeper on each one. This on accident but it will fit the pad better and I think I'll feel even more connected to the board. That pad material I get is 1/4" thick. I think I have a pic of before I took foam out of the deck, I'll try to post that.

Here's a pic before I concaved the deck. Will be doing the bottom lam tomorrow and deck lam on Saturday.

So I softened the rails a bit and glassed the bottom tonight. Thanks to soulglider for the pointers on softening the rails. Going with 4oz bottom and will go 6x4 deck, doing the deck lam tomorrow and hopefully bottom hot coat Sunday.

So what were the rail softening pointers for to help the lam get round the edge easier.

Could you take a pic straight on at the tail, i'm struggling with the pic angles to really get a feel of the rail shape of this board.

Well I was thinking of having hard rails to have water release off the the bottom. But having then like that would make it hard to turn so I softened them up so I can turn the board. Hopefully these pics are good.

So what single fin are you going for? a nice greenough?

With a 19" tail and 21.5" wide point not much ahead, do you think the solitary central fin will still be in the water when banked hard over in a turn?

When you have it finished it would be nice to see a full tail on shot, like you did here but straight at the tail and full width, I will take one of mine so we can compare.

I have a 7" 4a to start but I think it may be too small, won't know until I try it though. Here are some pics of the tail, was hoping to put a hot coat down tonight but my deck lam didn't kick on one side of the rail. It was the side I had to mix more resin to finish the lam. Hopefully it will be ok to hotcoat tomorrow, had to put down another 6 oz layer of cloth.

Fin box is in will be sanding it tomorrow. I also had a piece of 3/4 plywood that I started making a paipo out of today.

looking good, YO! sand the snot out of the middle of the 3/4" ply kinda like a greeno spoon and youll have the flex you desire. let me see the outline, please o please.

Here she is all finished. Took it out in some dumpy low tide beach break this evenig for about 40 minutes. Caught 4 closeouts so no real report to give other than it feels a lot less chunky than my others. Hopefully this weekend I get a feel for it.
