4'5 Bellyboard

#1

Unread post by Pes78 »

So I started another board on Saturday, this one is 4'5 21 1 3/4 stringerless poly using a 6'2A from US blanks. Nose is pulled in a bit 16" wide and tail is at 19" will be doing a concave deck on this one as well. I have pics but they are not to good and will try to get better ones this weekend. The bottom has belly in the nose and goes flat from there into a deep single concave about a quarter inch and that starts just after the fins. I also put a slight channel/concave going down the center of the board that gets deeper as you get to the tail, at the most it's around an 1/8" deep. There is a bevel on the bottom rail line and I'll try to get some pics of these contours. Hope to finish it on Saturday all I have left is to concave the deck and finish sand. Not sure how deep I'm going to go yet most likely 1.25" and boards going to be a twin which I've really been liking.

I agree, intriguing...lots of questions here, but I'll wait for the pix which may answer most. I do have one question that can't wait, where is the trailing edge of the fin located and what fin template do you plan to use first?

I plan on using the fish stix from rainbow. Fins will be set at 8" up with 1/4" toe. Will try to see if I can get pics later today, I'm actually using a professional's bay.

Nice.
Paipo surfer in repose,
Nose on the nose,
No grunting he-man pose.
See how fast he goes!
What is it he knows?

Thanks Uncle Grumpy. Krusher I'm not sure I would describe it as squirt I feel. From what I understand concave provides lift and on this board I'm feeling that and I'm staying in the pocket more. I did feel the speed through a couple turns tonight, I was really trying to focus on that. That speed could be from the lower rocker overall on this board. One wave tonight felt so good went for about 100yds on one and I didn't get burned by anyone the whole wave. Sorry I can't more technical but I'm of going what I feel type of person.

feel? i was going to say nice board but, unless you can go on and on about every minute measurement and detail, i'm afraid I'll have to discount your design and hard work. get back to us after you google all the info you can about designs like these so we can think that you are some kind of authority. again, sorry, i was going to say nice job! ;)

There are ways to measure how much of a failure you feel. Fun looking board.

PES, that is your best board yet. It looks like a good size for you. Can you duck dive it?

The acid splash is still the fastest I've gone. It does duck dive a bit easier because there is less foam overall. This one has more foam carried out the whole board and I can get around the lineup better with it. My board is pretty fast as well and need to learn to start stalling so I don't get to far ahead. Also if its barreling I can get some tube time. Would be a good idea to take both out in somewhat the same conditions.
