Started this board today. 4'1"x 21" thickness to be determined. Bottom needs to be fine tuned and then I'll turn the rails. It has a 6" concave channel running down the center of the board, starts at 1/8th" deep to 1/2" deep through the tail. The rest of the board has belly the rest of the way. The deck will be spooned out and I plan on going pretty deep with that. Rails will be pinched hull style and running it finless.

Pez,

Interesting looking board.

I went pretty thin on my last board - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=710

I'm getting another board, basically the same but thicker, with less deck scoop. After my Indo trip I realised the thin board, was great in tubes but was a bit short of speed. The shaper reckoned , go wider or thinner. I elected to go a bit thicker. The thin boards I have lack stability in certain conditions, e.g if a tube section collapses. The bonzer I have just ploughs through, the thinner boards seem to lose the momentum. My other thin board is just a speed machine but not a tube rider.

I look forward to seeing how it turn out.

Bob

We don't have any tubes here it just a mushball. :D In the center I have some foam to work with, I was thinking going to an 1" thick in the center but may leave some foam. My other boards that I did concave decks on were a lot thicker. Have to see how it goes.

Here's the bottom contours. Finished it this morning came out pretty good, I didn't concave the deck as much as I wanted. But the bottom is about what I had invisioned in my mind.

How did the bottom turn out? Have you ridden it yet?

I've had it out a couple times nothing to great, I'm a bit out of rhythm having spent the last month in Vegas. Got one on Saturday that I felt connected to the wave. I think the bottom came out good. I'll see if I can get some pics of the finished bottom and rails.

Is this a finned or finless board?

It is finless and most likely will remain that way. I think with the way the bottom is in the tail it may be hard to set the fin boxes. Could try glassing some on but for now will keep it finless. Was out today and on a couple waves I focused on keeping the highline on the wave face. I had thought that I didn't blade out the rails as much as i wanted but the board held it's line pretty good.
