PAIPO Foils.

Unread postby SURFFOILS » Wed Jun 27, 2018 7:00 am

So take the earliest of surfcraft and add the latest fad...
It combines the inherent stability of prone riding with the instant acceleration of foiling.
Maybe a ‘one piece’ design that’s roto molded like a Belly Bogger.

By way of explanation below is a bellybogger created by Dick Ash: http://mypaipoboards.org/interviews/Dic ... 9-09.shtml

That’s the one, I don’t know how many he made but they pop up now and then in garage sales. They seem to have been well used and abused as surfcraft.
My idea is to make a basic paipo with side supports holding a foil underneath.
Something like this where it’s a single wraparound frame.
But I’m not thinking about all glass as it would be too heavy.

And possibly reduce weight by cutting out most of the side panels leaving just a front and rear support on each side for the foil.

Thanks Brett.

I'm assuming the foil is at the rear.

Regarding producing them, have you ridden anything like this?

My mate was experimenting with HDPE, the stuff they make breadboards from.

Regards

Bob

I have done a few hydrofoils, the last ones have flown well but I have no talent to handle them. my friends yes

for a bodyboard to fly, you need to have an airplane wing profile, this wing thanks to the speed generates lift.

I have seen this video very fun fly in a bodyboard, it has to be good for the days of strong wind
