I just did a google search...at least there are some waves. Looks like fullsuits year round, get a good hood and wear that year round too to protect your ear canals, probably get booties as well.

I can’t think a force of nature that would get me to move to a cold climate.
If my wife wanted to move to the UK, I’d let her go.

Run away crime. 69% of the youth unimploud, rapidly collapsing economy with rampant corruption. But a surf paradise

Government corruption is the worse.
No chance of moving to France, or Portugal, or Hawaii or Australia as a last choice ?

Re: PAIPO Foils.
I wouldn't worry too much about that, I wear a wetsuit all the year, during the winter the water drops down to 12°c at Lacanau where I surf, in the summer it might be 21°c max.CHRISPI wrote:I have a tiny shed to work in. I have never surfed in water colder than 19c, I think getting used a full wetsuit is going to be a problem. I see Keith spends most off of his surf time outside the UK. It is going to be a stressful life change
Honestly, wearing a wetsuit is not really a problem, I don't mind. I mean when it is really cold out there, you just love neopren, I have never eared about eskimos complaining about their fur coats .
In wintertime, with a good wetsuit / gloves / hood / socks combo you can have a 3 hours session in cold water, no problem. Plus the cold tends to keep away a lot of people from the water, so it is less crowded, no tourists, more intimacy.
My best sessions are during the Winter, early morning, dark grey sky, half raining, but nice waves and you know you will really deserve a nice warming meal after that .

Re: PAIPO Foils.
Forgive me if these questions have been answered elsewhere, but I would like to attempt a plywood version of a simple foil board. I have always been intrigued by Gilbert Lum's creation.
Should the foil go under my center of mass? Some designs have the foil more to the rear.
Do heavier riders need more area in their foils? Is there a rule of thumb for size?
How "foiled" does the wing need to be? That is, flat at the bottom and arched at the top of the wing's leading edge.
What design pitfalls have you discovered through trial and error?
Thanks

Aloha, Uncle George had created "Paipo Foil" since the surfboards foil came alive. He created two more foil paipo before his passing. Low profile but skim the surface of the surf.

Here’s my 3 paipo boards , only 2 have foils attached. The shape of the foil is more important than the foil of the foil.
