The added thickness scarfed to the nose allows for increased nose rocker, provides a convenient hand hold and increases the strength of the leash plug.

Given the reasons for the nose design, does it add much thickness? You'd assume it does but the nose rocker would thin it out a bit. Has it been in the water yet?

I naturally used the cut off from the front of the board for the scarf to get the increased nose rocker, handle and leash plug into the shape.
The very front of the board is obviously the thickest part; it's just thick enough to provide a really grippable area to hang onto and a decent bed for the plug. The body of the board is a little less than ¾"; the thickest part of the nose is about 1¼"
Only had it out a couple times buy I am happy with it so far...
I have some more pictures but can't seem to get the image doohickey to work today............ :?:
