I'm guessing that the ebay seller is initially responsible for a fee based on the end of auction. I wonder how long it takes to sort that out. The bidding was done by two newbies, or one person pretending to be two people. A flaw in the system...maybe newbies shouldn't be allowed to bid over a certain dollar amount.
I also have to fault the seller for calling the board rare, and saying it only had minor wear. But also worth noting that the bidding started at 99 cents.
Once upon a time that little board probably had a great value to someone. Maybe it was for a son or little brother. From that bygone era before the arrival of Chinese junk. It warms my heart and makes me a little sad at the same time.
Back to the tangent...Nels, is the Blob a strap-on handboard?

Re: eBay Beeg Sale
With that much of a discount you would have to pick it up here in California...but it's summer and we're supposed to get some surf soon...Nels would you take $14,750 for the Blob?
That is the only thing that might make sense...but...well...Once upon a time that little board probably had a great value to someone.
You said "strap-on"...heh heh heh...but no, it's about a 36" chunk of semi-reshaped broken board scavenged from Supertubes in far north Malibu. Close examination might reveal it to be a classic example of throwing everything into one project (like throwing a bunch of colors together)...which would be fairly true...but at the time I was interested in the idea of a mass of floatation with some static planing surface. I was getting into mats, I'd read and remembered about people riding wet "inflated" pillow cases or whatever, and too shy to try out some oddball inflatable toy. And I was playing with colors and sparkles and foam and fiberglass...completely burnt out coming off an aerospace "career"...is the Blob a strap-on handboard?

Re: eBay Beeg Sale
This makes little sense
If it had some heritage I would have thought Rod or someone here would have known of it.
I watched one of the surfboard auctions and boards with documented history were going for a lot less than that

Re: eBay Beeg Sale
For having heritage that info sure wasn't posted on the eBay sales page. The two big bidders may known something. Or something else was going on, be it legit or not. Sure is curious.
