Have you thought about using ply for the foils ? I put 2 layers of 6 oz with epoxy on each side and they're bulletproof. The thinner shape moves thru the water easier too, less volume to push when you paddle. Cheap as too.

Hi Brett,
When I built my last board the SR72, I put a lot of surface area in the centre of the foil to get it to jump from in the water lift to planning on top lift, it might not make sense but this has become its greatest performance feature. On slower less powerful waves and sections the foil in the water allows me to run high, as speed picks up it pops onto the surface and blasts away on the wing tip, the trim and speed changes are significant but with anticipation and a good grip it has become controllable. The sensation of flight and speed is exhilarating, this board is fun!! . It feels good to have incorporated a performance feature that works.

Hi Chris, at the moment I'm locked in a fin discussion elsewhere where people don't know the best fin foil for speed !

That's great that you are stoked with the SR72, are you thinking of doing another version?

Brett , do I make sense with my explanation of how important the in the water and on top combination has become, it’s like having a car with lots of torque it pulls from low speed it doesn’t bog down on slow sections, but frees itself when the wave pitches out, the trim change is dramatic but exhilarating .I won’t build for about a year I like to explore the boards performance parameters fully. My next project I want to learn vac bagging on paddles for the boats

Chris, I understand what you're saying. I'm keen to see what you're planning with the paddles ? What sort of "boats" or are you talking about SUPs ...? :D :D :D
