Where do you buy your XLPE? My searches seem to only identify cable suppliers.

I get my XLPE in the US from the Foam Factory in Macomb, Michigan.
For short-term, XPS housing insulation (DuPont & Owens-Corning) with decent minimum compressive strength might be a good substitute for divinycell. XPS housing insulation has very low water absorption and is light.
Made a quick body board for the grandkids from the lowest density housing XPS insulation sheets — to my surprise it is still intact.
You can bond XPS effectively to other material surfaces with 3M 78 spray adhesive.

Important tip for XLPE boards.
Don't lean them up against something in direct sun. The side that heats up warps toward the cool/shaded side.
Found that if I leaned the opposite (cooler/shaded) side out in the sun for 20-30 min in the same sun heat, it warped back.
Then I placed the board on a cool flat floor with a rectangular tub/container of water on top until the whole board cooled to room temp -- back to original flatness after.

This is a CAD figure for the 48” Channel-Tail model. Channel size is the same in the 42” model ridden in the video previously linked and the photo above — board planshape is similar. The bottom surface inside the tail channel provides indirect rocker. The tail channel functions as a low-drag, finless fin.
