Is it really only 3/8 inch thick?
Jarrett Liu
yes, I shape wood boards at 3/8” thickness, it went from 3/4”, 5/8”, 1/2” and found 3/8” to be faster and controllable in surf even in shore breaks. Board Weight is also a good thing to know that makes them easier to take off and gliding further than any boards…
I laminate wood to creat many custom styles and shapes…

And a flexy board can be more than one shape on a single wave. So I'm guessing wood veneers, epoxy, and fiberglass?
Jarrett Liu
yes indeed. A friend made a PVC 5/8” sheet n cut it into 24”x48” and heated the nose to form a nose-rise. this board is remarkable of 38% flexible, I’d bought four of them n charge 4’- 6’ft surf, I could come out from a underwater takeoff n hit straight down on the face n pull up on the nose to maneuver me up into the lineup. Riding a flexible board you will love what you can accomplish .. wishing you luck, let know know how it turnout

Can you post a photo of the PVC boards?
Jarrett Liu
sorry I don’t have a photo of this board that was made back in 1990.

this guy Lee was also making hand boards his logo was “In N Out” out thinner gauge PVC 4’ft X 8’ft X 1/4”sheets. I know it was a faster production of cutting the shape n added heat to the pvc that was on a mold then drilled holes for the hand-straps.
as for the paipo board shape since I’d bought four, I’d snapped one at Panics and two at Sandys they broke in three pieces and the forth one I’d left it on Molokai where the termites had a party n found thousands of holes 🕳
