Endeavour stand up board a usable paipo?

Maybe for the larger rider or person who likes a longer board this stand-up board would be a usable paipo :o

Looks like it might work. But the 4'2" square nose is equal to about a 4' 8" round nose board. The wide point looks like it is in a good place. Krusher send me one and I'll try it out.

A 6ft merrick will set you back 600 inn the uk.

A copy of my finless paipo fro SDF surfboards would be 400.

I saw one of these yesterday in a shop...about 54" if I recall. Rocker didn't look good at all for paipo, but then they make a range of bodyboards so that wasn't their concern. About $179-$199 USD if I remember.

I've never ridden one but spoken with a couple of people who have.

Vs are a pretty large bodyboard company, the stubbie is there stand up fun board. No point riding that prone when they have a complete range of correctly proportioned prone boards

Bodyboards don't have rocker, just a bit of nosekick, you can flex some rocker into them as you ride.

Hi all, I'm Matt from Endeavour Surf Company. Hope you don't mind me crashing your forum. But I was super Stoked to see you guys have found the Spud! really cool to see it appeals to other forms of wave riding.

The Spud has been designed by our shaper Diego Gonzalez as an alternative standup board that has a real finless skimming over water feel. It's super fast. I imagine there's no reason you couldn't ride it prone as a Paipo. It has a really flat rocker but as all our boards are made to order we can totally adapt any dimensions, rocker, rails and leash position you like. We can even go shorter. I'm sure you guys have all that wired way more than me.

Our hipster boards are our flagship range and each board is a real labour of love. All are finished with full resin tints either gloss/polish translucent or matt opaque which look really cool. In terms of price, we have a £100 off promotion running which makes a Spud £499. But would welcome your thoughts on price.

Hope this message finds you well. Again I was super stoked you had found us and just wanted to get in touch, loving the site. I've been on it all week! I'm really into my hand plane bodysurfing so love the original wave riding vibe!

All the best,

Matt

Welcome aboard Matt. Plenty of room here for any varied opinion on wave riding vehicles, and it allwayys good for people to be able to pitch questions direct to the source.

I think the spud would function fine as a prone board. If shortened to the 3'6" range if would become much more turn-able for a prone rider, and maybe just two fcs knubster fins would suffice , or fin-less depending on rail.

There are no pics I have seen of it other than plan views, how about you grab one and do a 2 mins youtube vid talking about it and showing it off.

I personally think people who think outside the box will pay decent prices for a quality items. With a polish resin tint 500 is a bout what my local shaper would charge for similar.

Hi Krusher, Thanks for the reply. I will get a clip made as soon as I can. We're trying to do that with all our gear really. I have a 4'6 being delivered in a couple of weeks, so I'll put something up as soon as I can.. Will also dig out some shots of the concave. It's got a really interesting scoop concave between the fins..

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Krusher, here's a shot of the rails and concave. I've been speaking to the guys at the factory, you've really sparked their interest! If you guys have a chat and work out what dimensions and rocker etc would work best for a Paipo version, we'd be happy to make one and get some vids made. We're all about trying to expand the range into alternative wave riding vehicles. Could be a really cool project!

Let me know your thoughts. my email is matt(at)endeavoursurf.com

Thanks,

Matt

Looks great, I have learned to harness that concave on my own board, if you get a bottom turn right you can fell the water fly out if it and you get a squirt of speed. :D

Any idea design-wise how this and double concave work differently? :?

Also, adding to Krusher's Q above, experience in functionality of concave as in that board vs one that running front to back goes wide to narrower to wider, like in the Bonzers or at least the old ones; no idea what they are doing now with them.

Sorry for the late reply i've been away. Here's a reply from our exec shaper Matt Barrow "The single scoop concave will stiffen the board up in a straight line and enable a higher speed. It basically gives you more rocker in the water. A double concave in the single scoop ( making a triple concave through the whole tail ) will make it easier to turn depending on your level."

Hope that helps?

Thanks,

Matt

Well looks like i'm going to be helping the endeavour guys work on a paipo based around the spud :D Cant wait to see what we can cook up

For those with sticker shock on the spud the £600 version is the polished resin tint, the sprayed matte version is a affordable £449! 8-)
