2004 INFAMOUS PAIPO PHOTO CONTEST
Official Rules and Gibberish
PRIZES! PRIZES! PRIZES!

Reflecting the place of the paipo riders in contemporary surf culture, prizes will be small, cheap, and meaningless...other than they signify that winning photos reflect the true spirit of surfing or caught the judges eye between drinks.

In the spirit of fairness there will be a panel of three judges. At least two will have to agree for winners to be chosen. I figure two out of three ain't bad...

DIVISIONS

WATERPROOF CAMERA

Photos must be taken with a waterproof camera, preferably a $10 disposeable single use camera.

OTHER CAMERA

Photos must be taken by a non-waterproof camera of any type.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The judges will be drunk. Possibly very drunk. So study and learn these rules and regulations.

There is absolutely no restriction or standard for subject matter, composition, clarity, technical skill, or taste. None whatsoever. That said, one must remember this is a surfing-based website, so some surf content might help. It also might not. There is much more to life than surfing, and the judges will be easily distracted. Soul, humor, luck, creativity...all these things will count more than reasonably believeable.

It will probably help if you write a caption to accompany your submissions. The more entertaining, the better. Same goes for the photos.

Send a copy or a scan. With these new photos, if you might catch something you really want to keep, it's fairly cheap to have double prints made.
