MY PAIPO BOARDS
Five Decades of Paipos

Sun and Sky (or Sun and Sea) Checkered RPM IX
Background: The Checkered was built in December 2011, and I accepted delivery on December 27, 201. It is a virtual clone of its close relative, Checkered RPM (Black and Turquoise Blue), except for being a little thinner for a nice tropical tuned waveriding board. The Checkered features a rounded wide square tail (the pod edges are very hard but not knife sharp). There are some other very minor differences between the two RPMs, but the major one was going for some reduced thickness throughout the board and adding one layer of fiberglass on the bottom.

Vital Statistics:

Length 50"  [total length of board]
Width 20"  [widest point of board, 25 inches from nose]
Mid point width 20"  [widest point of board, 25 inches from nose]

Tail 18-1/2"  [width 12" from nose]
Pod 12"  [one inch from the bottom]
Flyers n/a  [distance from tail]
Thickness  2-1/4, 2-1/2, 2" [measured at the centerline of the board, forward, middle, aft/tail]. Note that there is a 3/4" difference between the dome (centerline) and the outer stripe edge approaching the rail in the thickest section.
Rocker, nose 2-1/4"  [board flat on surface, vertical inches]
Rocker, tail 1-1/2"  [board flat on surface, vertical inches]
Weight 7.6 lbs (without fins)
Stringer(s) 1/8" balsa
