Paipo rideshare
Whenever I ride my paipo, people want to know what it is and how it rides. People in lineup are always stoked to try it out.
I know there are people out there who want try riding paipo, but can't find a board to ride. If you want to ride my boards, PM me. If you have boards ride, post here.

Re: Paipo rideshare
Good thread to start-up, Ted. Both Ted and I enjoyed sharing out board with a sponge stoker near Kailua-Kona, Big Island, back in early November. Both of our boards were very similar Austins, 50" RPM Checkered models. Ted's was the Black/Red.
How do you like your new 44" version?
Austin Baseline Model (Orange Matter)
Austin Checkered RPM (narrower, thinner)
Freeline Fish Twin Fin, 50"
Ashton Green Disk V, 50"

Hey Ted......I am also wondering if you have had a chance to try out your new 44 inch Austin and how it compares with the standard 50 inch in the water?

The 44" Austin hasn't arrived yet. (I told Austin no hurry, since my work schedule is lousy till after the new year.)
There is also no surf here now, so work doesn't seem super painful.

Re: Paipo rideshare
Paipo 90, aka Red. Pre adoption name "Red Machine IV"
Austin baseline, aka "Azul"
When I first rode Azul I was on the fence about it. Red seems more responsive. After talking to Rod I tweaked the fins a bit, which helped. At POGP 2011 I did more tweaking, setting Azul up as a thruster using 3 fins of the same size. Wow, that really made the board shine. I did more tweaking but found that the thruster combo did the trick. I spent the rest of the trip riding it as a thruster.
Red is the first paipo that I rode and it's a fun board still. My daughter will be using this one now.

Re: Paipo rideshare
Typical east coast (usually hatteras) bars. During my last trip I shared a nice spot with Rod. One afternoon I went out solo at a nice little right that I had all to myself, lovely mini barrels that gave me enough shade so I didn't get sunburned. But the thruster combo, once I realized that the board wasn't going to slide out from under me, was perfect. I was out at another spot in June with a different setup and much larger, hollow waves and i had a hell of a time not sliding out.
I did take it with me to the Gulf Coast (FL) last spring, I had a couple of days riding some beach break with it. Not the best surf but I got wet, which is all that matters. It was fun but as the swell changed I was dropping into 1' deep water.

Re: Paipo rideshare
The 44" Austin just arrived. Austin shipped a 3" center fin and 3" side bites. I installed a funboard nose guard and will install Surfmore XM clear grip.

If anyone is planning on surfing the the San Francisco or North San Mateo County areas, I have a few home built plywood paipos I'd be happy to share.
