leashes??
Any of you put leashes on your wood paipos? I never have. Never even gave it thought...until this morning....I chased my board for 100+ yards as the current took it. I even had to use a spotter up on the board walk to point it out for me.

Re: leashes??
I have some with and without.
I ride my alaia type boards leashless in the smaller stuff.

Paipo surfer in repose,
Nose on the nose,
No grunting he-man pose.
See how fast he goes!
What is it he knows?

Re: leashes??
A leash on a ply paipo seems more risk than reward. I've never used one. I've been in the same situations trying to find or chase down a paipo, but those are few and far between. Now I understand why bright red was such a popular color for paipos back in the day though. Worst case if I lose a board is I'm out less than $20 in materials, and some time. Seems like in all the situations when you do lose the board, you'd rather have it moving further away rather than staying close to you. If I was riding a light weight exotic wood board that I spent hundreds on, I might consider a leash though.

Re: leashes??
I have 2 boards getting varnish now and 2 more to shape. I am going to do two things I have not tried on one or more of them. I will put a leash on one and a deck pad like Mr Mike.
